Itaconix plc
Itaconix plc (AIM:ITX) is a UK-incorporated, US-operating innovator in plant-based specialty polymers derived from itaconic acid, protected by 18 patent families. It develops, produces and sells functional ingredients (scale inhibitors, odour neutralisers, hair fixatives) primarily for homecare, personal care and industrial product manufacturers, with a near-term focus on unit-dose laundry and dishwashing detergents in North America and EMEA. The company was previously named Revolymer plc (renamed; same registered company, number 08024489). It also has an early-stage BIO*Asterix specialty itaconate monomers/binders business targeting paints and coatings.
FY2025 in sixty seconds
year to 31 Dec 2025 · approved 23 Mar 2026 · 70 pages · Companies House
Itaconix makes plant-based ingredients for products such as dishwashing and laundry detergents. In the year to 31 December 2025 its revenue rose to $10.5m from $6.5m, up 61.4%, and its loss after tax narrowed to $1.4m from $2.0m.
The growth came mainly from wider use of its scale inhibitors, ingredients that stop mineral deposits building up, in detergents in Europe and North America. Administrative costs rose, largely because of extra staff, and the loss includes a one-off $197k write-down of earlier development costs.
Cash at the year end was $2.4m, down from $5.5m, with further money held separately in term deposits. The company increased its stocks of raw materials, partly to guard against US tariffs. It had no borrowings, issued no new shares and paid no dividend, and it does not expect to pay one in the foreseeable future.
Management expects another strong year of growth in 2026 and a move to a profit before interest, tax, depreciation and one-off items. The report warns that growth may slow from 2025's exceptional rate and that three customers account for a large share of revenue. The auditors gave a clean opinion and raised no doubt about the company's ability to keep trading.
